On the road to Pageant Nationals 2016
Tuesday: July 11th, 2016.
I'm packing my bags because in less than 2 weeks i'll be in Atlanta, Georgia for Pageant Nationals! With Antso as Miss Pennsylvania 2016. And I would like to show and explain some of my prep work as I promised. From things I made and things I had to and have to do. Let's get into the post!
Some of things I've done is writing my about me which is personal information about myself that we answer questions from school and academics to community service to even all the fun stuff like favorite movies and colors and so on. Which is the main part of your score is your interview, your about me paperwork is everything. You even send your school transcripts. It shows who you are as a person and what makes you. Since this is a pageant focused on your inner beauty, rather then the outside.
We take headshots and photos for our program book that goes out for nationals for everyone to see us, I included photos of that in yesterdays post as well as our business cards. Last years I had little tiny ones and this year I had the giant business cards that I posted in yesterdays post as well.
Next I decided for my interview to show me and my true self to make my interview dress which is black and gold, it isn't finished yet so pictures are not available and I want to leave something a surprise for nationals! I also decorated a pair of black heels for my interview to match as well. Being and artist as well as an aspiring fashion designer.
First I started with cutting out flat gold gem plates and hot glueing them on the bottom of the heels to match the gold in my dress. And they are flat, so YES I can walk in them. For everyone questioning and wondering.
Next I took pink flowers and ripped out the middle of them and hot glued on purples for the center of them since i'll be wearing pearl jewelry.
I also added pearls in the front, 3 on each side to keep the pearl theme going. Which is the gist of the style. I didn't want to over do them. Especially since this is for an interview. I considered painting them but since they were suede, the paint might not dry right on them and ruin them.
Now this is the heels from all angles showing the final product of what I came up with for my pageant interview attire.
Next our particular system does not do swimsuit, but instead we do personality jeans. To show our true selves rather then body figures. Which I love and have been doing the past 3 years, and love these jeans the most out of all of them that I have ever created. To show my true inner talent.
This is my original picture of my jeans. I started off with white paint splatter to show i'm an artist, and next I continued with pink cherry blossoms, my favorite color and favorite flower. All hand painted by me. Also inspired by the Blake Lively jeans. I hand painted fashion including the body form as an I and the art in fading color graffiti. I also added stickers of clothes and art things. I even added buttons. For an artist, fashion designer effect.
I needed and Idea for the back and I didn't want to over do it. I continued with the cherry blossoms to match the theme. Also as the bottom yo notice my beaded trim. I even added more flower and buttons. As well as the clip made it to the back, even more decorated with streams as well as twinkle lights! That's right my pants light up. I even did the back Philly related since I am from Philly. I wrote out Philly in red, with the Phillies P. I even added stickers to represent Philadelphia. For my simple Philly back to not take away to much from the front.
This is a second picture from the front because I wanted to show on the art side I even added a picture of the Philadelphia art museum as well as the twinkle lights are on the fashion side. The behind the scenes of my thought process and pageant art life.
My last photo is my ad book page photo for 2016. My thought process behind this is the first two corners are previous pageants. The 2nd row the 2 ends are last years winning of Miss Pennsylvania 2015, then the last row 2 corners are crown pictures (My crown picture and the Antso crown picture), and finally the middle is from this year as Miss Pennsylvania 2016.
My ad also includes my title, a thank you note, my link and a simple quote. I wanted to keep it meaningful but simple as well and thought out.
Thanks guys for listening to my brief discussion on the road to pageant nationals! I hope it also answered your questions from looking at my posts on facebook and snapchat and wondering what I was doing and why. I'll keep you guys updated. Thanks for reading. Tons more posts to come! With fashion advice, glam bags, hauls, OOTD, more pageant stuff, ect. <3
Love always,
Jackie Kensey xx
