Road Trip To Nationals! *Story Time*
Wednesday: August 10th, 2016.
Hey lovelys! It's been a week since I last posted, but I left you guys with a double post. I have so many ideas flowing on tons of posts to make, and I would of made one for every day that just passed since my last one. But it's been busy, for being away and coming back with having to buy and pack for college, getting ready, with all the modules, surveys, online test they have us do. As well as watching all 4 seasons of WentWorth on netflix. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out. But let's get into the post.
Saturday Morning I headed out to Atlanta, Georgia for my road trip to nationals. We were getting through fast, no traffic. Pennsylvania, to Maryland, to the longest state on the East Coast, Virginia. We sang out to the radio, and even stopped for some Panera.
Then a super creamy crab chowder soup. Amazing. I don't eat meat, but I tend to eat fish things on certain occasions, from shrimp to soups like this, and sometimes tuna. That's it, but no meat.
Then my roommate had a yummy chocolate cake desert with toasted marshmallow on top with her meal as well. I didn't picture it, but it was a bbq pulled pork dish.
Which Panera has the best green tea ever, its mixed with passion fruit, amazing. We continued down to Richmond, Virginia for the night. We drove to multiple hotels to find a place to stay. They were trying to overcharge us for rooms, some places did not look like their online pictures, as well as sketchy, and probably infested with bedbugs. One of the hotels lied saying they have a pool, breakfast, other things online, overcharge to have nothing. We ended up driving all over, until we finally just stopped at a random motel. It was cheap so we booked online, it seemed sketchy. When we noticed the bullet proof glass and how you had to be buzzed in, as well as slide your card under the slot. Also should mention, they advertise online a 18 and older hotel. But this specific location is 21 and over, and I am not 21. The lady was really nice, she let us get away with it. But told us to not leave our rooms for the night and to stay put. Also I noticed all the hotels ask for smoking or non smoking rooms, which i've never been asked in other places, but probably since they were sketchy motels here. We walked into the motel, first thing we did was rip the sheets off the bed checking for bedbugs, no signs. But we asked for a nonsmoking room, the second you walk in, it smells like cigarettes. I walked into the bathroom next, first thing I said was "I'm not showering in here, I'll wait until the next place tomorrow. This place just had bad vibes, I understood why the lady did not want us leaving on our room. On the way up to it people were looking as us all weird like we were fresh meat or something. We did not leave the room, we made sure that door was locked. In that room, I also noticed was ashes all over the ground from cigarettes, as well as cigarette burns in the comforter. I felt like I was in a 80s rockstar movie, on the road going to my next gig. I lived the actual road trip life like a rock star, in a crappy motel. I laid on top of the bed with my own blanket for the night. The next day we were out. My roommate woke me up, and was like lets head on the road.
We hit dunkin donuts and were out of that town fast. Our next destination was South Carolina. We chose Greenwood because we had a friend staying there. The next hotel we picked, had good reviews. It was a days in, and way better then the night before. The guy was nice, we head to the room to check for bed bugs, clear. Then we open the fridge, there was someones old drinks left in there, as well as dead flies. Of course in the crappy motel we didn't see any bugs, but in the nice place we found dead flies. We head back down to the front desk, and were sent to a new room. We walk in and the room smells like weed. Pure weed. We open the windows and put on the air. We check for bugs, clear. Nothing in the fridge this time! The guy at the front desk called our room to make sure it was okay this time. Now we finally could take showers! After being on the road all day the day before and the next day, in a crappy motel, being able to feel clean! The best feeling. We ended up going out to dinner with our friend and her roommate. I want to say it was O'Charleys, something we don't have back at home. I got some real sweet tea, as well as a shrimp pasta. She showed us around the area, it was a cute town, also learned where we grew up, also cute. We hung out at their place for a bit, we felt so much better then yesterday. In an area that wasn't sketchy or gross and around people we actually know who know the place. Then we headed back to our hotel later that night to get some sleep for Atlanta!
We were only a couple hours away from Atlanta and were able to leave first thing to get back! That picture was a peach from South Carolina, since South Carolina produces more peaches, then Georgia itself. Weird right? Since they call it "Georgia Peaches", and everything in Georgia is peach themed, with peach streets, the peach pass, everything.
We finally made it our amazing hotel in Atlanta. The Marriott. First things first, we checked in. Great.
The hotel had complementary fruit flavored water up front as well as it was a great location, nice place. We headed to our room only one bed, but it was a suite. A giant king size bed with closed doors, with a living room with a pull out couch. As well as a shower and tub bathroom everything.
The first thing I did that day was check out the amazing in to outdoor pull and hot tub, hungout at the hot tub by myself, no one else there which was so relaxing and well needed.
After that we went out to an amazing dinner place, the southern country restaurant, iI think it was called, to end my beautiful night, of the road trip there finally over. No more crappy motels, bugs, nothing, until our trip on the way back haha.
I even snapshotted my food, since It looked great as well as it tasted amazing. My trip ended up great at the end of a real road trip on a broke college students budget.
From icetea as my main drink as always.
To an amazing appetizer, it was a spicy cheese that you dipped the crackers, celery, and even pickles in. It was great.
Now this was my trip to Nationals! Next will be my week in nationals, from everything I did, to the end, and the final outcome, as well as my trip on the way back home. Stay tuned.
