College and Portfolio

Monday: February 29th, 2016

Happy Leap Year! I wanted to fit in one last February post of 2016. And this one I decided to talk about colleges and portfolios for art college and all. Showing my work and talking about where i've applied and so on. First I wanted to say I got two official college acceptances from The Philadelphia Art Institutes and also LIM (in New York). In New York I also had applied to Pratt and FIT, for fashion design, but their decisions don't go out until April 1st. I also had last minute applied to Moore in Philadelphia. I use to do my Saturday classes there, and they had sent me a free application and also told me upon my approval I would receive a scholarship. Which I had just applied and sending in my portfolio today as I had just received the drop box link. I also had applied to FIDM (in California), it was my number 1, I visited, met with people and speakers from there and more. They told me my portfolio was perfect, but since i'm out of state my GPA had to be at a certain point, and I had to resubmit my grades, where my GPA does meet it now, so waiting upon acceptance as well. Through college I plan to major in fashion design, minor in business. My dream had always been fashion. As a little girl hand sewing clothes for my barbies is where it all started, and I knew this was what I wanted. I plan to establish my own fashion line, and follow this little girls dreams.

These were my official approvals from Lim and AI. So college applications depends on where you wish to attend and what you're majoring in. I chose art colleges and fashion design. My steps included the fee, letters of rec, transcripts, essay, and a portfolio. Which my portfolio varied on the colleges, some required 2d versus 3d work, as well as fashion sketches, designs and so on. Also some may include descriptions, mix and match, presentation and more. I decided to share some of my work with you guys. On what could be included with different mediums and concepts. Some of the work may be upside down or sideways and i'm not sure how to edit on here.

Water color tack art. Concept was to fit tacks into a water color painting and the concept was a cartoon based off tacks.

 Rydal train station in charcoal.

A October Night. Based off the imagery of a poem called October Night. Color pencil.

Just quick water color sketches outdoor at baederwood. Not finished.

Classroom still life. Pastel

Wuthering Heights print. Carved linolium or however you spell it! And my favorite book is Wuthering Heights. Aka my inspiration. Catherine and Heathcliff.

Kitchen still life in Charcoal. Took place in my kitchen.

Hairy scary tooth fairy. A project we had to use hairy, scary, tooth fairy in a way. I made a furry skirt for the hairy. One of the teeth are missing though after the fact for tooth fairy. And it was scary eating dolls and blood. Theres a back too!

Self portrait, pastel. When I had red hair and tan skin.

Based on dolls and lolita fashion and scary things. Using color pencil, water color, 3d little objects.

Pencil/graphite classroom still life.

Very unfinished pencil self portrait.

Bedroom still life based off my makeup and hair supplies in pencil.

Drawing for Day of the Dead in pencil.

Plastic is not fantastic. Another print and was based off saving the whales.

Sassy princess and press. I like the idea of kitsch, so water color, glitter, feathers, sequins, anything 3d kitsch.

I found the back of the hairy scary tooth fairy skirt!

Next 3 photos are outfits, and fabric pieces for mix and match. Thin marker, water color, kitsch.

Next 6 for my scrapbook fidm portfolio, based off my love for Japanese fashion with fabric involved. Also a thin marker, water color, kitsch.

Next I wanted to include clothing I made.
First I painted this dress, made the form/pattern for me by scratch, based off my ideas of day and night photography. Worn by me.

Next another dress and jacket I made for my pageant interview for nationals during the summer, also as well used in my portfolio just as everything else.

Next wow here is all the edited right side up photos that i actually sent in my portfolio and more then shown from above. Sorry so long, but just found the right ones.

Japanese collages I made to base those sketches I mentioned earlier off of, another assignment.

And the 6 sketches again, but singly without the fabric and other stuff.

This was extremely long, especially since I ended it repeating some stuff, photos take up tons of space, but I hope you learned a lot about me and my art and fashion as well as the college process for a art student/fashion major, and even if you're not there was info for you to learn an more.

Thanks for reading and staying tuned to my blog and I. Love you all!<33

Also wanted to include, soon my title of Miss Pennsylvania National teen 2015 for Antso will be coming up soon. As I have to crown a new Miss Pennsylvania. As a lover of this scholarship foundation as well as lover of pageants and how this is about your inner self and being a role model for girls everywhere. Also as well as community service and academics and all too. It helps build you as a well rounded person. And if you're in the US in the ages of 9-25 check out our system. It is a great opportunity. Thanks <3

Yours truely,
Jackie Kensey xx
