Production Standards in Fashion.

February 9th, 2017

Completing my Teen Vogue X Parsons assignments has me making multiple blog posts in one day but the more posts the best! Previously I talked about Production Costs in fashion and now this assignments is based on Production Standards.

"As anyone who has tried on clothing in a store knows, size is a relative thing. One brand’s size 12 is another brand’s 16. And “medium” could be anything from a size 4 to a 10. For this activity, head to a large clothing retailer that carries a number of different brands. Try on a number of garments — tops and bottoms, dresses, pants and coats — and write down the sizes of the items that come closest to fitting you well. Now choose the item that fit you the best, and try on every identical item in that size. Remember that clothing is made with up to 1/2″ tolerance, so the same shirt may not fit you exactly the same way. Did you find any differences in the “identical” items? Take a picture of the item." - Teen Vogue X Parsons

Jeans is my biggest thing in this I have Jeans ranging form size 00 to 0 to 1 even 1/2 dealing with what fits better because sometimes a 1 can feel smaller then a 0 depending on the cut. I have jeans from juicy couture and the black ones I own the waist is too big but a size 0 while the regular jean look is the same size cut and everything same collection but fits me right being the same size. And it is strange that these things exist. I've sone it with a number of things ranging from dresses, jeans and shirts. I've boughten tons of shirts where they were all small from the same store but they fit differently. Especially at forever 21. The jeans will be a 24 waist and fit like a 27 and vise versa. As well as their shirts it will be a small and either too tight or huge. Sizes can range differently based on the place selling like certain places I can't buy jeans versus others like Levis fit me great being a 0 and then other places may be too big or too tight. That is my research on production standards in fashion. That sometimes  clothes will say a size but is it really that size. Always smart to try your clothes on before buying them.
